Welcome to Books By Paul E. Orman.  I write books that show direct correlations between Spiritual matters and Physical matters.  Between what is Godly and what is Worldly.  What we know of the secular world and what we know of the Devine world.  Writings that contrast the things of God and the things of humanity.  And in doing so I want to challenge people to examine their beliefs and to ask themselves why their beliefs make sense in today’s world, and why they make sense when measured against all of eternity.

I believe that if we are honest in doing so, most of us will find our beliefs to be filled with paradoxes and contradictions.

While I do not believe that humanity has all of the answers we seek (and that is by design), I do believe that those answers that are relevant to us today are available to all who desire to discover them.  It is not necessary for us to understand or resolve all the paradoxes in life, only to understand why they are there and how they should shape our thinking.

Since the beginning of time humanity has been conflicted in our thoughts.  However, over the past 200 years or so, the world seems to have been conflicted with ever growing competing ideas.

An example of one such idea is the theory of evolution.  The belief that all higher life forms developed (evolved) over long periods of time from common simple life forms.  And indeed, before that, life itself evolved from inorganic matter.  That somehow, the right set of atoms (and their sub-atomic particles) came together to form just the right molecules, which joined together to form just the right amino acids and peptides, and that these then formed cells, and that these cells suddenly became alive (by a process we as yet cannot explain, understand, or duplicate), and that these cells then joined together to form organisms, and that these organisms (over long periods of time) developed into plant life, all kinds of animal life, and humanity itself.

This is what evolution teaches.  And it is taught in our High Schools, Colleges, and Universities around much of the world today.

Evolution is an atheistic idea.  That is, it is an idea that allows for no belief in a god or gods.  A belief that does not allow for the intervention of a super-natural being in any part of the physical world.  And yet, 81% of the world today professes some sort of belief in a god or gods.  Humanity naturally wants to believe in the Spiritual world even with the conflict it creates with what we are taught of the physical world.

And so, we try and force-fit two competing ideas into one belief.  People will express ideas like ‘There is a god, and that god simply used the process of evolution to create everything’ without even realizing the paradox, the conflict, they just created.

The conflict that is created is that evolution has absolutely no room for a god.  And all creation stories have absolutely no room for evolution.  In his last book before his passing, Dr. Stephen Hawking concluded that there is no god.  When Dr. Carl Sagan was asked if there is a god, his answer was always ‘There is not’.  Ask Dr. Richard Dawkins if there is a god, and the answer will be ‘No!’.  And Sir Fred Hoyle concluded that one must believe in evolution because to consider the alternative is unthinkable.  And while there are stories of a death-bed conversion of Charles Darwin (generally dismissed as false), the chief architect of modern evolutionary theory himself, believed there was no god or gods.  The proponents of evolution know that it is a framework built on atheism, even if most of the world does not.

All the while, on the other side of the coin, every major religion that teaches a belief in a creation story, emphatically believes in a god or gods.  And the creation stories of world religions do not teach of evolution.  Despite the best efforts of all the great minds that extoll the mysteries of evolution to all the world, the vast majority of us still believe in a god or gods because we somehow know that we are more than just the bodies we experience here on Earth.  Few of us ever stop to consider that none of our religions that teach of a creation story have any room for evolution.  And the fact that we try to force-fit it into our religious teachings is an acknowledgement that we ascribe to neither.  We just make stuff up in order to satisfy our own personal world views.

CONFLICT: We are taught the science of evolution which has zero allowance for a god or gods in our schools and universities. And yet our major religions exist to tell us there is a god, or gods, and yet none of them have any room for the atheistic teachings of evolution.

CONFUSION: We try and build harmony in our worlds by melding the two competing ideas together.  And the conflict and confusion that arises from trying to do this destroys the foundation upon which our world views are built.  And where we manufacture answers to satisfy our conflicted world views, we develop strife and destruction in our lives.

The true atheists among us suppress that strife and destruction by saying in their hearts ‘there is no god’.  Whereas the true theists among us put aside that strife and destruction by recognizing the lie evolution as a flawed teaching and by putting their faith in a Creator with a creation story.  The people that try and believe both are simply agnostics.

Through my books and writings, it is my hope that people begin to reason that without a god there is no hope, no meaning to life.  And given that a god is the only answer to hope and meaning in the world, that there is, and must be, one true God.  And that the hope that may be found in life is a result of being part of the special creation made in the likeness and image of that God for the express purpose of having a relationship with him for His Honor and Glory.  And that all of the struggles and challenges we face in life, all of the pain and joy we experience, all are expressly answered through understanding God and rejecting anything that would place the idea ‘there is no god’ in our hearts and minds.

If you are a person who desires an understanding of the things dividing our world today, as I am, I invite you to grab a copy of my books and explore the world along with me.  I will guarantee you, you will be challenged.   And perhaps that challenge will spark your own journey to understand the mysteries of life.
